Wow, that's a great find! This poster suggests that this movie was released theatrically, or at least planned for one. I'm not aware if that ever happened, though. I've always assumed this was strictly direct-to-video.
Jerome is right, also. This is a famously butchered import of Miyazaki's 1984 film Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind. It's a fantastic movie, adapted from his graphic novel. The success of the Nausicaa film led to the creation of Studio Ghibli a year later, in 1985.
